On UN Human Rights Day, 10 December 2020, students, young professionals and young activists from around the world joined together to launch Youth Fusion, a new platform for youth-led actions and initiatives to achieve a nuclear-weapon-free world.

Basel Peace Office welcomes the ratification of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) by 50 states, this number being reached on October 24, enabling the treaty to enter into force in January 2021. At that time the treaty will become legally binding for the states that have ratified.

Young Africans from Children for Peace and the African Network of Young Leaders for Peace and Sustainable Development (ANYL4PSD) have supported the UN Secretary-General's call for a global ceasefire and joined the Basel Peace Office project

The coronavirus pandemic has stimulated people around the world to question governments' priorities, and to call for a shift in budgets and investments from nuclear weapons and military security to public health and human security.
