On 23 September 2012, Alyn Ware ran the Basel Marathon to raise funds and publicity for the Basel Peace Office . With only three weeks training, the run was a bit of a struggle, but Alyn made it the 42 kilometers to the finish line in 4 hours and 20 minutes, in the process raising 1300CHF from small donors from Basel and overseas.

to promote the peace of a nuclear-weapons-free world”
This was Alyn’s third marathon – the previous ones being in New York in 1997 to support the Abolition 2000 Global Network for Eliminating Nuclear Weapons and in 2011 also in New York to support a Peace and Sport youth program in Israel/Palestine.
